Ballet classes for children aged 18 months and up offer an exciting, creative, and fun way to introduce students to the wonderful world of dance.

Through the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus, students will be taught proper technique and terminology, as well as gain an understanding of the body’s alignment for safe and effective dancing. Classes include exercises and combinations to help develop strength, coordination, flexibility, and musicality. Students who are interested in taking examinations will be assessed and prepared for the Royal Academy of Dance examinations, giving them the chance to be rewarded with a Certificate and Medal of Achievement.

the Royal Academy of Dance

Our ballet classes are based on the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus. Our exams set standards in classical ballet and we are a global leader in Continuing Professional Development for dance.

  • The Royal Academy of Dance offers an internationally recognized portfolio of examinations and presentation classes which are designed to motivate and encourage students of all ages and levels of ability, through systematic measurement of progress and attainment. The RAD is one of the world’s most influential dance education organizations.

  • Founded in 1920 to set standards for dance teaching within the UK, today we have a presence in 84 countries, with 36 offices and around 14,000 members worldwide. We count more than 1,000 students in our teacher training programs and more than a quarter of a million students are being examined on our syllabi. We support our membership through the knowledge, and expertise of our highly qualified staff and through conferences, workshops, training courses and summer schools.

The Academy considers professional training of young children in classical ballet to be vitally important. The Academy's syllabi have been devised with great care to enable a child to progress through their dance training in planned stages, demanding no more of a young body than it can cope with.

The Academy provides three syllabi in Classical Ballet. There are two examination syllabi, known as Graded Examinations in Dance and Vocational Graded Examinations in Dance. There is also a non-assessed syllabus known as Presentation Classes. All are designed to recognize the progress and achievements of children and young people.

RAD examiners undergo a rigorous training and there are stringent quality assurance procedures in place.
